New BecA-ILRI Hub annual report now online
The Biosciences eastern and central Africa – International Livestock Research Institute (BecA-ILRI) Hub is a co-creation of the African Union’s New Partnership for Africa’s Development (AU/NEPAD) and the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI). Over the years, BecA has developed and refined its core activities and areas of focus, formed partnerships and initiatives and grown its networks of expertise across the continent.
The 2017 Annual Report introduces BecA-ILRI Hub’s new director, Jacob Mignouna and the role he intends to take on steering BecA-ILRI Hub towards agricultural transformation and harnessing joint interventions to curb issues affecting food security. The report delves into the ABCF’s activities in building the capacities of African researchers, the role BecA-ILRI Hub plays in demand-led research that responds to high priority themes and the diverse and dynamic technology platforms and research related services that support bioscience research in agricultural development.
The report further explores the exploration of the BecA-JIC partnership that forms ACACIA that has allowed the engagement of a wider research community with multi-disciplinary teams that are working towards food security challenges. It introduces the advisory panel members, and BecA’s engagement with them and the wide range of visitors that come by the Hub. The new staff is introduced as the report concludes.
