Hassan Zackaria Ali Ishag
I am Hassan Zackaria Ali Ishag working at University of Nyala, Nyala, Sudan. My research interest is focusing in livestock comparative genomics, functional genomics and metagenomics as well as genome editing. My vision for Africa agriculture is to lead Africa towards a food, nutrition and livelihood secured future through innovation in agricultural research and education.
Africa is rich in agricultural resources including under-utilised livestock and crops. Bioinformatics can play a key role in the generation, interpretation and visualization of agricultural data related to these under-utilised resources, thereby making these resources more accessible to African researchers to improve agricultural productivity and livelihood on the continent.
The Bioinformatics Community of Practice has helped me build a strong bioinformatics capability with experience in data analysis for agricultural and biological sciences. In fact, networking is another advantage. Transforming my training experience into my institution will lead to research advancement, particularly in the field of characterization of Sudanese livestock breeds. It also helps generate competent researchers who are able to analyze their data.
